As many of you know, Theater Camp will be scheduled a little bit differently this year to accommodate our Directors' new addition to their family, coming in July!
We are offering a four-week camp, Mon - Fri, 10am - 3pm, June 2 - 27. Athough the most benefit will come from enrolling in the full series, we are accepting registrations for four, three, two, and even one-week increments (one-week participation cannot be the final week, as we will be moving into more structured rehearsal for the final public performance that week - a must see for everyone)!
PushPush Theater Summer Camp, a facet of our youth program, SmallTall Theater, is a four-week intensive performance camp focused on a classic or modern play. The camp is a detailed exploration of significant literature and the fundamentals of theater arts through readings, creative dramatics, movement, theater games and improvisations - all culminating in a unique public performance the final week.
Since its inception in 1998, SmallTall has presented Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew, Edmond Rostand's The Romancers, Oscar Wilde's Fairy Tale, The Birthday of the Infanta, Naomi Wallace's The Girl Who Fell Through a Hole in Her Jumper, David Mamet's Poet and The Rent, a charming rendition of Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, and As You Like It.
Taught by PushPush Theater Artistic Directors, the camp offers real experience in theater arts that allows young people to explore true artistic collaboration. Our goals with this program are to enhance participants' imagination, communication, confidence, and thinking skills while sensitizing them to team work.
The camp is challenging and requires focus; it is also fun and tremendously rewarding. We invite your young person to come play! As always, the play is TBA and depends largely on enrollment. We typically have fairly concrete thoughts on the play by the end of May.
