Portal Film Festival II

Featuring new international short films from 11 new filmmakers.

PushPush and our Dailies Filmmakers in collaboration with Deutsche Film und Television Academy in Berlin and Goethe Zentrum Atlanta present this showcase from Berlin's Top Film School, The DFFB, highlighting independent short films from some amazing new directors and writers. This is a great way for Atlanta filmmakers and enthusiasts to actively take part in international exchange on the ground level. Think globally and act locally. PushPush's Dailies Filmmakers Program is moving quickly toward international exchange. To date, we have created over 170 short films and helped develop three internationally distributed feature films. We've held screenings of work from Brazil, Germany, Canada, Bhutan, and other countries, and are excited to bring you the 2nd round of short films from The DFFB. The DFFB filmmakers come from Turkey, Russia, England, America, and all across the globe. Come enjoy some intriguing short films and make new connections.

November 23 at 5:00pm, November 28 & 29 at 7:30pm at PushPush Theater and November 26, Goethe Zentrum will host an evening of The Best of the Fest - A collection of 4 short films from the DFFB, 8:00pm. Following the hour-long screening, we will have a cash bar and 15 minute Q&A about the Portal Project, followed by a meet and greet with several partners in this exciting new initiative. Come out for the best of the short films and bring a friend.

GRFX Film Series

A world premiere open-source creation.

GRFX takes us inside the hectic day to day world of Dresher's Publishing, a German/American company that produces a wide variety of graphically illustrated stories and sequential art (comics). Upon the death of Grandpa Dresher, the company's founder, grandson Paul, must unite his peers to keep the company alive in a new era. But can they do so without sacrificing his legacy or their love of storytelling? GRFX is a German/American co-production that will feature the work of numerous international film, theater, and graphic artists. This bi-lingual narrative film series will also delve into multiple platforms of distribution. In nine parts, this series explores high and low art and the future of storytelling itself. It is an open-source project requiring diverse involvement between international cities, beginning with Atlanta and Berlin. GRFX serves a mission to collaborate with other cultures in telling stories that move us into the future.

A short featurette will begin shooting in Atlanta and Berlin in December 2008 with series production in 2009 as a co-production between PushPush, Dailies, POP Films and Belezea Films in Berlin. For more information, see the GRFX website or email Tim Habeger.
