More About Our Internship Program

Immediate Internship Opportunities

Managing Artistic Director Assistant
PushPush Theater seeks to fill the new Intern position of Assistant to the Managing Artistic Director in June of 2008. The position will be a 4, 9 or 12 month contract, depending on experience and schedule flexibility. Students interested in the arts and needing school internship credits are preferred. Hours will be flexible (roughly 8-15 per week, depending on availability). Duties will vary but will generally fall under arts administration and production, marketing, youth program administration, and fundraising development. Training will be provided. Must be reliable, have personal access to a computer with internet, and, at times, be able to work independently. This is an unpaid internship; however a small travel stipend may be available depending on need and experience. This is a great opportunity for students seeking real-world experience in the arts and non-profit business and for connection to other opportunities in the arts.

Youth Program Assistant
PushPush Theater seeks to fill a summer internship position of Youth Program Assistant. The position will last approximately 8 weeks in 2008 starting in mid May and ending near the end of July or beginning of August, depending on availability. During the months of June and July the job will primarily be assisting during the PushPush Theater Summer Theater and Film camps, Mon - Fri, 9:30am - 3:30pm. The week or so leading up to the camps roughly 6-8 hours of administration will be required (detailed information about our camps). Training will be provided. Experience with youth a plus. Must be reliable, able to take direction from Artistic Directors, have a desire to learn about the program and apply the ideals as they are learned. A small travel stipend may be available depending on need and experience.

German Language Assistant
PushPush is also seeking a German language intern to assist us for a short time with the translation of several new plays and also with some internet research related to our German exchange projects.  Please pass the word and/or let us know if you have any leads. Hours and times are flexible.  Some assistance can take place from home.

To apply send cover letter and references to pushpushtheater@gmail.com.

More About Our Internship Program
PushPush Theater of Atlanta offers unpaid and stipend-paid internships in theater arts. Our award-winning, 99-seat theater is run by a small group of artists who wear all hats. Our interns do the same. The program is challenging and can (and often does) involve arts management, administration, marketing and pr, tech/set work, costume & props, design, youth programming, event planning, fundraising, volunteer coordination and community relations, stage management, directing, and -sometimes- acting. In most cases applicants are asked to participate in a workshop or volunteer with artistic staff prior to being accepted. Applications should apply in the form of a one-page letter of interest indicating your knowledge of PushPush, your objectives for the next 5-10 years, and how PushPush might help you reach your goals, along with your resume and headshot to pushpushtheater@gmail.com (preferred way of communication) or by mail to: PushPush Internship, 121 New Street, #4, Decatur, GA, 30030.

Because our staff is small and doesn't always have time to respond to every bit of mail, we encourage applicants to bring their information directly to the theater during shows, workshops and events in order to meet staff and get to better know the company and our work. Before applying applicants are encouraged to read all related info on our website to get an idea of how we work and if our mission fits with your goals. Our company, mission, and intern program is different from most programs and applicants need to decide if the environment seems fitting. The best way to do that is to come for workshops, see shows, talk to the artists and volunteer. To get postings on these events please email us and ask to be added to our volunteer and/or main artist lists. Our program is fun and challenging and provides a wealth of opportunities. We look forward to meeting you.
