PushPush Looks to Expand Board
Dear Friend,
As you may already know, PushPush Theater's vision is to be an integral force in the progression of Atlanta’s artistic scene. For nearly 14 years, we’ve stayed true to a unique mission, focusing not on performances, but on the people who make them. We are Atlanta’s only film and theater organization dedicated solely to the development of local artists.
2010 is going to be a great year, and here’s why: we're partnering with several international organizations to create a world class hub for the incubation and creation of original film and theater content. Last year, we made four international co-productions. This year, we’ll double that number and be in a better position to connect our artists to the resources they need. We've started a new program that allows over 300 artists a year to create new content and find a new audience beyond the city limits. We are in development for several new serial shows ranging from television comedy to cutting edge stories for the big screen. We have an ongoing series to introduce emerging artists to masterpieces of the theater. We will also provide a wide range of innovative workshops, educational opportunities, and mentorships in strategic career development.
Last year, four of our artists were nominated for the prestigious John Cassavetes Spirit award at The Academy Awards. Donald Glover, 26 left the head writing staff of 30 Rock to join Chevy Chase in the cast of NBC’s Community. His movie, Mystery Team, also opened in theaters across America. Sahr Ngaujah created the title role of the new hit Broadway show, Fela!, and Daniel Pettrow’s new show, Dance Marathon, will be featured at this year’s Winter Olympics, while he also tours the world with the renowned Wooster Group.
Given our aspirations, unprecedented support for our mission, and where we are in our development as an organization, we are seeking to expand our board with five to eight additional members to support the company and its new strategic plan. This is the time when PushPush can really make a significant impact on Atlanta’s cultural life.
As a friend of PushPush, we are asking you to take a minute and provide us with the name of a potential board candidate that you believe might fit well with our organization. The board responsibilities have been simplified for clarity and required meeting attendance is 3 of 4 quarterly meetings, with each board member focusing on one primary goal for the year.
We are looking for diverse individuals who are interested in taking a fresh look at film and theater in the 21st Century and helping Atlanta’s emerging and professional artists make their mark. For more information or to email potential candidates, please contact pushpushboard@gmail.com.
Best regards,
